A contract opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher to provide life skills instruction in an elementary or intermediate school setting near San Antonio, TX. This immediate backfill position involves serving a small classroom of 9 to 12 students across grades 1-4 (elementary) or 5-6 (intermediate). The role requires teaching students with a variety of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities (), autism spectrum disorders (AU), and speech impairments (SI), although the program is not focused on a specific disability category.
Responsibilities- Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Delivering specialized instruction tailored to each students needs
- Collaborating closely with two paraprofessionals assigned to each classroom
- The teacher will support students academic, social, and functional skill development within a structured and supportive environment.
- Valid Special Education certification
- Content/generalist certification for relevant grade level
- Experience working with students with diverse disabilities
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with paraprofessional staff
Work hours vary slightly depending on the campus assignment, typically from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM or 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The assignment start date is as soon as the candidate clears district requirements.
