Position: Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Converse, TX

Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing! A contract opportunity is available for two dedicated professionals ready to empower learners in an engaging, on-site setting. Bring your skills and compassion to the classroom and help students thrive in academic and social environments.

This role includes two positions: one supporting elementary or middle school students, and one working with high schoolers. Responsibilities will involve teaching math, core English courses, and collaborating closely with fellow teachers and specialists. The district values well-rounded candidates with a passion for helping the deaf and hard of hearing community succeed.

Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education required;
    Masters degree preferred
  • Valid Educator Certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) ASL proficiency will be assessed during the interview
  • Experience teaching academic subjects such as math and English to students with hearing differences
  • Ability to collaborate with staff, students, and families
  • Strong references and up-to-date professional certifications, ready to submit upon request
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct instruction in both mathematics and core English subjects
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment for students from elementary to high school
  • Develop and adapt instructional materials to meet students individualized needs
  • Communicate regularly with families and support staff
  • Participate in professional development and IEP meetings as required
