Job Description & How to Apply Below
We’re looking for a skilled, reliable Mechanic who takes pride in keeping heavy equipment safe, dependable, and ready for the road.
At Excel Driver Services, our fleet of Class A tractor-trailers is the backbone of our CDL training programs. You’ll be the person who makes sure every truck is in top condition so new drivers can train safely and effectively. This is a hands‑on role with real impact — not just fixing trucks, but supporting the next generation of professional drivers.
What You’ll Do- Perform preventative maintenance and light-to-heavy repairs on diesel tractors, trailers, and company vehicles
- Diagnose and repair electrical, engine, drivetrain, brakes, air systems, suspension, cooling, and chassis components
- Handle tire work, welding/fabrication as needed, and general shop duties
- Keep accurate service records, work orders, and maintenance schedules
- Manage parts inventory and coordinate with vendors
- Work closely with Operations, instructors, and leadership to minimize downtime and keep training schedules on track
- Support occasional roadside assistance and maintain a clean, safe shop environment
- 3+ years of hands‑on vehicle repair experience (diesel preferred)
- Strong diagnostic skills on both diesel and gasoline systems
- Experience with welding and fabrication
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Clean driving record (CDL is a plus)
- Reliable, detail‑oriented, and safety‑focused
- Comfortable with the physical demands of the job (standing, lifting, working under and on top of large vehicles)
- Competitive pay: $25–$30 per hour (based on experience)
- Full benefits package
- Paid time off
- Stable, full-time schedule
- Opportunity to work on a well-maintained training fleet with a company that values quality workmanship
- Direct impact on driver training and safety
If you’re a no‑nonsense mechanic who takes ownership of your work and wants to be part of a growing company that trains the next generation of truck drivers, we want to hear from you.
