Job Summary

North West Arkansas Community College (NWACC) seeks a Part‑Time Library Assistant to support library operations during evenings and weekends. The Assistant will assist patrons with library services, manage circulation, maintain collections, and provide excellent customer service.

Essential Duties
  • Staff library service desks and open/close assigned library spaces.
  • Greet patrons, direct them to requested service points and other departments.
  • Check materials in and out, renew items, and update borrower records as needed.
  • Shelve library materials, maintain the physical appearance and order of collections through shelving, shelf reading, and shifting.
  • Guide patrons in using computers, copiers, equipment, and printers.
  • Collect and log library charges, handle cash transactions, and make change.
  • Inspect items for damage and notify a supervisor if needed.
  • Ensure users receive excellent customer service and maintain confidentiality of user information.
  • Contribute to work in other library functional areas as needed.
Rate of Pay & Hours

Rate: $14.00 per hour. Position averages 19 hours per week during normal operating hours. Variable schedule may include evenings and weekends.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of experience in a library environment or a related field.
  • Knowledge of higher education academic and social programs, campus resources, and related regulations.
  • Ability to coordinate campus program activities, evaluate information, and compile reports.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Physical Demands & Work Environment

The role requires frequent manipulation of items, keyboarding, sitting, standing, walking, hearing, repetitive motion, and talking. Visual acuity is required for reading, transcribing, and computer use. Work is primarily in a professional office setting with moderate noise; occasional visits to storage or outdoor areas may occur.
