The Department of Chemistry at Hendrix College invites applications for a fixed-term Assistant Professor of Chemistry position, beginning in August 2026. This is a one-year appointment with the potential for renewal.
The position carries a full-time teaching load of six course equivalents per year, where one course equivalent comprises a lecture section or two lab sections. The teaching load will include the sophomore-level Organic Chemistry sequence and associated laboratories, as well as introductory-level courses for majors and non-majors as department needs require. The College seeks to extend its tradition of excellence in teaching and scholarship by attracting faculty who combine mastery of their disciplines with broad intellectual interests and commitment to the aims of a liberal arts college.
Doctorate is preferred; ABD will be considered.
Applications should include a cover letter addressing the candidate's interest in teaching in a liberal arts environment, a curriculum vitae, a statement of teaching interests, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and graduate and undergraduate transcripts.
