• Certified as Highly Qualified by meeting one of the following criteria:
  • Completed two years of study at an institution of higher education (60 semester credit hours)
  • Possesses an associate's (or higher) degree
  • Obtained a passing score of 457 on the Educational Testing Services (ETS) Parapro Assessment
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with others in grade-level, school, and District teams
• Ability to lift 25 pounds

The Special Education Paraprofessional will endeavor to work closely with one or a few special needs students on a regular basis to provide them with the physical help and emotional support needed to gain the full benefits of their educational placement under the direction of the supervising teacher(s).

• Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
• Assists student(s) assigned in any physical tasks directed by supervisor.
• Supports the teacher on methods, materials, and strategies for reinforcements on target children and implements plans developed by the teacher.
• Aids teacher, when requested, in communication between home and school.
• Participates in ongoing staff development.
• Helps plan scheduling for meeting the needs of students; helps collect and/or prepare materials to support student learning.
• Communicates regularly with teachers regarding students' needs and progress.
• Treats all information about the school, teachers, children, and their families as strictly confidential.
• Other duties, as assigned.

The contract length will be 185 days. The salary schedule will be N - Paraprofessional.

Based on local district policy and Arkansas Department of Education guidelines, and performed by the building administrator.
