Position Summary
The University of Central Arkansas Child Study Center Director/Teacher is responsible for operating the UCA Child Study Center. This position is governed by state and federal laws, agency and institutional policy, and is a nine‑month staff position.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Maintain enrollment records.
- Plan developmentally appropriate activities across developmental domains for children enrolled in the three‑year‐old program (Mon‑Thurs AM).
- Utilize assessment strategies to monitor progress of children.
- Supervise preschool teachers and children.
- Evaluate program daily operations, handbook, teacher reviews, etc.
- Provide training and professional development for staff.
- Communicate program goals, policies, and procedures to parents.
- Maintain the center’s budget; order supplies, collect tuition and fees, and handle accreditation fees.
- Oversee licensing requirements (State of Arkansas) and accreditation criteria (NAEYC).
- Coordinate university field experience.
- Hire and train teacher assistants (undergraduate and graduate UCA students).
- Knowledge of higher education organization and administration.
- Knowledge of state, federal, and university rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Ability to work in a diverse and dynamic environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently toward common goals as part of a team.
- Sound judgment and effective interpersonal communication.
- Strong written and organizational abilities.

- Effective follow‑up skills.
Education and Experience
- Master’s degree in early childhood education.
- At least five (5) years of experience in early childhood education.
- Knowledge of Arkansas licensing standards.
- Valid teaching license for the State of Arkansas.
