Your Job

Molex is seeking an experienced mechanical Senior Product Development Engineer to design our industry‑leading high‑speed connectors and cable systems for big‑data and hyperscale customers. These high‑tech components are critical for the data superhighways we use every day. In this highly visible engineering position you will join a team of professionals passionate about delivering the best products to the market.

What You Will Do
  • Be a team member in a global organization designing and developing leading‑edge new products and components for the high‑speed cable and connector industry.
  • Interface with cross‑functional teams in signal integrity, manufacturing integration, program management, sales, test laboratories, R&D model shop, and senior leadership.
  • Design and develop new interconnect products, including high‑speed connectors, connector cable assemblies, and related mechanical hardware for datacom and telecom applications.
  • Collaborate to develop cost‑competitive and creative designs with manufacturing and signal integrity teams that are efficient to manufacture while meeting high‑performance market requirements.
  • Develop product and application specification documents for testing that meet customer requirements and market expectations.
  • Present concepts and detailed requirements internally and to customers to obtain support for major new products.
  • Support manufacturing and quality assurance during product launches and travel to manufacturing sites as needed.
  • Build relationships with senior leadership, cross‑functional team members, and peers through team‑building activities and growth opportunities.
  • Help lead the organization in identifying, evaluating, and implementing new technologies and methodologies to enable next‑generation products, improve costs and quality, and improve NPD engineering processes.
  • Provide leadership, support, and guidance to less experienced team members on multiple NPD projects.
  • Work with marketing and external customers to help define new project opportunities and strategize overall design.
  • Provide application and technical support to consolidate inputs from marketing, customers, and external consultants into product concepts and detailed requirements.
  • Follow all product development steps from concept inception through refinement of detailed product design, supply tooling group models and drawings for quoting and tool build.
  • Document, publish, and expedite all action items of a new product program.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical product design and development with proven technical leadership.
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Experience with GD&T and concepts.
  • Expertise in tolerance analyses.
  • Experience with advanced parametric 3D CAD systems.
  • Design experience with products manufactured using processes such as progressive die stamping, injection molding, die casting, and insert molding.
  • Desire to learn, be challenged, and interact in a cross‑functional team environment.
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Master's degree or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Siemens NX experience.
  • Design experience with high‑speed, high‑density connectors, cable assemblies, and interconnect products.
  • Design experience with products manufactured using electroplating and automated assembly.
  • Knowledge of regulatory agency testing requirements (UL/CSA, NEBS, EMC/EMI).
  • Understanding of Six Sigma quality development tools and principles (DOE, FMEA).
  • Application of sound project management techniques, managing projects to timelines, due dates, and deadlines.
