The Civil Engineer III/IV serves as a senior technical resource within the department, managing increasingly complex projects while supporting project managers, mentoring junior staff, and maintaining strong client relationships.

This role requires a high degree of independent judgment, technical expertise, and project coordination experience. While not a formal people‑management position, the Civil Engineer III/IV may provide technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to less experienced team members.

  • Monitor project progress and identify potential challenges or risks.
  • Provide recommendations and solutions to engineering and construction-related issues.

  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor to Civil Engineer I and II staff.
  • Review work products prepared by junior team members for accuracy and completeness.
  • Develop and maintain positive client relationships and support business development efforts.
  • Represent the firm professionally in meetings, presentations, and project discussions.
  • Travel to project sites as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
  • 3–8 years of related civil engineering experience.

  • Strong understanding of local, state, and federal permitting and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and common civil engineering design software.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects from conceptual design through construction.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
