Responsible for contributing to the development, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of the Corporation’s internal control framework. Duties include planning, performing, and reporting on internal audits; evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls; and assessing compliance with internal policies, corporate ethics standards, and applicable regulatory and governmental requirements.
Representative Responsibilities- Work collaboratively with all stakeholders to lead internal audit responsibilities while maintaining appropriate independence and objectivity.
- Plan, coordinate, and perform internal audit procedures (financial, operational, and compliance), including interviews, process documentation, and control testing.
- Prepare and communicate concise audit reports that identify risks, findings, and actionable recommendations.
- P resent audit results to management, leadership, and/or the Board of Directors, as appropriate.
- Evaluate opportunities to improve operational efficiency, internal controls, and risk mitigation.
- Provide support in the development and/or enhancement of internal policies and procedures.
- Monitor, track, and follow up on management’s progress in addressing audit findings.
- Lead and participate in audit planning and risk assessment activities.
- Utilize data analytics tools and audit software to identify trends, risks, and anomalies.
- Apply advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), and internal control frameworks in audit activities.
- Analyze financial and operational data to support audit conclusions and recommendations.
- Provide audit-related support and analysis in budget preparation and review of monthly financial statements.
- Analyze utility-specific processes such as power supply, rate structures, capital projects, and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain professional competence through continuing education and awareness of applicable standards and best practices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance required.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification; preferred.
- Must have a valid Arkansas Driver’s License and a good driving record.
- Maintain a high degree of integrity and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively and professionally with colleagues, managers, and vendors.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with an emphasis on customer service and the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, including the ability to analyze data, assess organizational risk, solve problems, and interpret technical and regulatory information.
- Ability to work effectively during periods of time constraints.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and ability to use job-specific software.
- Ability to work non-standard hours when required.
