The Assistant Athletic Trainer will serve in the Department of Athletics as the primary athletic trainer for the Women’s Tennis and Spirit Squad programs and assist in the daily operations of the Sports Medicine Department. This position is responsible for providing healthcare services to assigned student-athletes, including the prevention, evaluation, treatment, management, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses under the supervision of the Team Physicians, Director of Sports Medicine, Associate Director of Sports Medicine, and Head Athletic Trainers.
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide medical coverage for assigned practices, competitions, performances, workouts, and team travel while collaborating with Team Physicians, coaches, and Sports Medicine staff to develop treatment and rehabilitation plans and facilitate safe return-to-play decisions. This position will maintain accurate medical records, coordinate referrals, ensure proper use and maintenance of athletic training equipment, and assist with inventory and budget planning.
They will communicate effectively with coaches regarding student-athlete health and participation status while maintaining appropriate medical confidentiality. This position will maintain all required certifications and continuing education and adhere to the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) Code of Ethics.
The Assistant Athletic Trainer is required to comply with all University, SEC, NCAA, and departmental policies and regulations and perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine, Associate Director of Sports Medicine, and Head Athletic Trainers.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to establish and maintain collegial and professional working relationships with others.
