Job Summary:

The Occupational Therapist (OT) in Home Health services for Alameda County is responsible for providing skilled occupational therapy care focusing on start of care visits, supervision of Occupational Therapy Assistants, and timely clinical documentation. The role involves effective communication with supervisors and office staff to ensure quality patient care and compliance with reporting requirements. A minimum of one year of home health experience and a valid California OT license are required.

Responsibilities:

Prioritize and complete start of care visits promptly.
Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants during patient care delivery.
Submit mandatory next-day reports for all start of care visits.
Complete clinical notes and other documentation within 48 hours of each visit.
Maintain timely communication with supervisors, intake personnel, and office staff.
Manage caseload and visit types to meet productivity requirements averaging 40 hours per week.
Utilize documentation system (Kinnser) effectively for all patient records.
Adhere to company policies regarding overtime approval and visit scheduling.

Required Skills &

Certifications:

Active California Occupational Therapist (OT) license.
Minimum of one year of home health occupational therapy experience.
Strong clinical documentation and time management skills.
Ability to supervise therapy assistants effectively.
Proficiency with electronic documentation systems.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel within Alameda County.

Preferred Skills &

Certifications:

Experience with Kinnser documentation software.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interdisciplinary collaboration.
Familiarity with billing and productivity point systems in home health care.

Special Considerations:

Mandatory next-day reporting of start of care visits.
Overtime must be pre-approved by the Clinical Supervisor.
On-call, call back, and weekend shifts are not required.
Must be generally responsive during normal business hours.
Reimbursement for mileage, parking, and tolls provided.
Option for company car with reduced billing.

Scheduling:

Full-time position, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
Caseload and visit mix designed to average 8 hours per day.
Three days of training provided: one in-house and two in the field.
