Position Overview
As a Production Technician II – Molding, you will play a critical hands‑on role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and high‑quality operation of injection molding processes. You will set up molds, optimize machine performance, troubleshoot production issues, lead mold changeovers, and support operators while maintaining accurate reporting and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities- Perform documentation as required and follow GDP procedures.
- Operate and perform machine adjustments and maintain all equipment to meet quality and safety regulations.
- Perform and follow all safety policies including Lockout/Tagout, Personal Protective Equipment, Fall Protection, and Forklift Operation.
- Set‑up molds to specific mold/machine requirements and torque clamp bolts to the specified force.
- Setup robots, thermolators, and workstations.
- Process all molding machines to the optimum conditions and ensure machines operate within validated parameters and target cycle time.
- Perform 6S tasks on personal toolbox and storage of molding components.
- Submit startup and mold approval samples with documentation to begin a production run.
- Assist operators in processing and minor troubleshooting.
- Ensure that PMs are performed routinely on molds, molding machines, and auxiliary equipment.
- Direct and perform mold changeovers and establish cycle sheets.
- Execute special projects and assignments as needed.
- Communicate effectively with department personnel and support groups (Quality, Mold Shop, and Maintenance) to achieve 100% cavitation on molds running.
- Monitor production to schedule and direct labor efficiency.
- Report production, downtime, and scrap data.
- Complete communication pass‑down sheets from shift to shift.
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities as determined by supervision/management.
- Adhere to plant, quality, and environmental health and safety regulations.
- Work flexible and overtime hours as required.
- Lead shift and report shift performance in the absence of a Supervisor (downtime, production, scrap and Tier I meetings).
- Lead Process Management Teams, LEAN initiatives, 6S, safety and GMP initiatives, and special projects.
- Conduct GMP audits and keep the department “Audit Ready” at all times.
- Complete all required Routesis Scientific Molding Training.
- Complete RJG Systematic I Molding certification.
- Apply meticulous quality standards, detailed protocols, and cGMP SOPs, Specs, and GDPs.
- Notify the supervisor and take appropriate action if any safety, quality, mechanical or discrepancy issues occur.
- Sustain a clean and safe work area using 6S principles.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of relevant injection molding experience (preferred).
- Good mechanical proficiency and competent computer skills.
- Ability to formulate plans and solve problems.
- Ability to assess risks and make informed decisions.
- Knowledge and execution of LOTO procedures.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and overtime as needed.
- RJG Systematic I Molding Certification (a plus).
- Physical ability to push/pull up to 100 pounds and stand/walk continuously throughout the shift.
- Capacity to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently throughout the shift.
- Normal visual acuity required.
- Physical capability to squat, climb, reach above shoulder level, reach at or below shoulder level, twist and bend at the neck, twist and bend at the waist, and maintain balance.
The estimated base salary for this position is $36,800 - $46,000 annually. The range reflects an anticipated salary for the role and may vary based on market data, location, skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
