Job Title: Overnight Clinic Nurse (LPN)
Location: Independence, MO
Department: Rapid Access Unit - Behavioral Crisis Center
Employment Type: Full-time
Shift: Thursday - Saturday 7pm-7am
Job Summary:
If you’re passionate about providing meaningful, hands‑on care while supporting individuals on their path to recovery, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a difference overnight. As an Overnight Clinic Nurse (LPN), you’ll join a compassionate, collaborative healthcare team dedicated to promoting safety, dignity, and healing for individuals receiving behavioral health and substance use disorder services. You’ll be trusted to use your clinical skills, empathy, and judgment to support clients during critical hours, build strong relationships, and contribute to a therapeutic environment where people feel supported and respected.
In this role, you’ll provide direct nursing care across outpatient psychiatry, addiction treatment, and residential housing services. Responsibilities include medication administration, nursing assessments, documentation, and clinical support services that ensure continuity of care. You’ll serve as a knowledgeable clinical resource for both clients and staff while helping maintain a safe, organized, and responsive clinical environment throughout the overnight shift.

Key Responsibilities:
- Administer prescribed medications safely and accurately using oral, injection, and self‑administration methods based on service line requirements
- Perform nursing assessments, including physical and mental health evaluations and psychiatric screeners
- Support clients by answering medication questions and coordinating refill requests with providers according to established procedures
- Monitor medication administration records (MARs), complete medication counts, and manage housing medication inventory and refills
- Prepare and pass medications as required, ensuring compliance with clinical standards
- Room clients, verify medical histories, confirm visit purposes, and collect vital signs and specimens such as blood and urine
- Complete accurate, timely documentation for nursing assessments, client interactions, educational groups, and safety planning
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date medical and medication records, assisting with lab and phlebotomy duties as needed
- Serve as a clinical resource for nursing and medical concerns, including infection control and client hygiene
- Participate in required meetings and perform additional duties as assigned by nursing leadership
Education, Experience, and/or Credential
Qualifications:
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Missouri
- Graduation from an accredited practical nurse program
Additional Qualifications:
- Successful completion of background checks, including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint checks
- Current driver’s license with acceptable driving record and active auto insurance
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to document clearly and professionally
- Ability to protect confidential and sensitive medical information in compliance with privacy standards
- Demonstrated problem‑solving skills, adaptability, and willingness to learn and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team
Physical Requirements
- Sedentary work involving exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and negligible force frequently
- Ability to sit for extended periods with occasional walking or standing
- Repetitive use of hands, fingers, and arms for typing, documentation, and writing during the work shift
