Service Technician Trainee I (SGL3) – Conway, Arkansas
OverviewSummit Utilities, Inc. is a growing natural gas utility delivering safe, reliable, and clean natural gas service to customers. This role focuses on field operations, customer interaction, and contributing to safe and efficient service delivery.
Position SummaryPerforms company field operations including manual labor and other duties necessary to accomplish the installation, repair, and maintenance of natural gas distribution facilities. Handles customer requests and represents the Company in the community.
Responsibilities- Initiates gas service, performs leak investigations and makes repairs.
- Locates gas lines.
- Reads gas meters.
- Conducts load surveys.
- Completes work order system documentation.
- Serves as First Responder in emergency situations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
No prior experience is required. Requires a high school diploma or GED. The title will change to Service Technician 1 when all prerequisites are completed, including completion of all occupational qualifications and supervisory sign-off.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities- Proficient in personal computers and software including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Possess a valid state driver's license with a good driving record and the ability to operate company vehicles safely and in compliance with laws and policies.
- Gain and apply knowledge of industry and company safety standards and regulations.
- Aptitude for basic mechanical tasks and ability to use proper tools (e.g., installing and reading pressure gauges, voltage meters, pipe locators, and repair service lines).
- Ability to monitor and adjust gas system pressure.
- Respond to customers with courtesy and knowledge, in person and by telephone, with good judgment and customer service skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, or activities through completion; adapt to changing priorities; work well independently and in a team.
- Commit to compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies; complete required training in a timely manner.
- Adhere to the Company’s values and business practices consistently.
The position is covered under DOT regulations and Summit Utilities Drug and Alcohol Policy and is subject to random drug testing.
