Job SummaryThe CTE – Electricity Instructor provides classroom and hands‑on laboratory instruction in electrical technology aligned to South Carolina Career and Technical Education (CATE) standards. The instructor prepares students for entry‑level employment, apprenticeship programs, industry certification, and post‑secondary education in the electrical trade.
Essential Duties- Develop and deliver instruction in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical installation and repair.
- Create lessons that will teach students electrical theory, wiring methods, blueprint reading, circuitry, and applicable Code standards.
- Prepare students for industry‑recognized certifications, including NCCER credentials where applicable.
- Create lessons that will teach students career readiness and employability skills.
- Provide direct instruction in tool safety, OSHA guidelines, and shop safety procedures.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and industry‑standard electrical lab environment.
- Maintain partnerships with local contractors, apprenticeship programs, and technical colleges to support workforce readiness.
- Foster effective communication with parents and/or guardians.
- Integrate career readiness skills, including teamwork, professionalism, communication, and workplace expectations.
- Commit to personal and professional growth.
- Be responsible for the care and welfare of the school and student body.
- Provide for the care and protection of school property.
- Monitor and document student progress toward technical competencies.
- Participate in required district and state CATE professional development.
- Carry out the policies, rules, and regulations of Horry County Schools and other responsibilities as directed by the principal.
Carry out other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required)- Experience:
Minimum of a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of four years of hands‑on work experience as an electrician in residential, industrial, or commercial installation/repair. - Preferred Qualifications:
Applicants without teaching experience, if hired, must be willing to complete the SC DIRECT Program (Developing Instructional Readiness for Educators of Career and Technical Education), an alternative teacher certification program offered through the South Carolina Department of Education.
- National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Certification as an Industrial Technician.
- Municipal Association of South Carolina (MASC) certification as a Journeyman Electrician or Residential Journeyman Electrician.
- South Carolina Labor, Licensing, and Regulation (SCLLR) Electrician's License.
- Willingness to complete the SC DIRECT Program (Developing Instructional Readiness for Educators of Career and Technical Education) as required by the South Carolina Department of Education for alternative certification.
- Knowledge of electrical systems, wiring methods, and applicable codes.
- Ability to demonstrate and supervise hands‑on electrical projects safely.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to integrate instructional technology into classroom and lab instruction.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe learning environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in written and spoken interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology.
