Job DetailsCoastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the position of Advising Specialist in the University Advising department (Time Limited – Benefits). Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week.

Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree.
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to follow instructions without close supervision.
- Two years of higher‑education or teaching experience.
- Provide students with information focused on meeting developmental academic needs, including transition to college, exploration of major fields, career options, resources, and university policies.
- Assist students with course planning and registration; maintain accurate advising records and monitor progress toward degree.
- Process student requests and forms in a timely manner; audit semester records to ensure appropriate course selection; provide final audits for graduating seniors.
- Engage in departmental committees and professional development activities.
- Consultation skills; ability to work with culturally diverse populations.
- Strong verbal and written communication; problem‑solving skills.
- Good judgment, interpersonal skills, creativity, and familiarity with FERPA guidelines.
- Discretion in handling confidential information and building trust with students and staff.
No drug or alcohol testing and no credit check for this position.
Working ConditionsOccasional nights and weekends; high‑traffic, high‑stress environment requiring organization, reasoning, communication, and resilience.
