Coordinator
- Network Engineering

Design, specify, install, optimize, manage, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot wired, wireless, and supporting local, metro, and wide area network components and infrastructure district-wide. This position is responsible for the district's enterprise switching environment and enterprise wireless environment, including dynamic routing (OSPF) across the district's wide area network. This position directly supervises network support staff and serves as the senior technical authority for network design, performance, and security across more than 50 district sites.

Essential Duties:

  • Design, specify, install, optimize, manage, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot wired and wireless network infrastructure district-wide, including local, metro, and wide area network components.
  • Maintain a highly available, modern, secure data network to meet the instructional and operational needs of the district, leveraging switching infrastructure and wireless platforms across all district sites.
  • Design, configure, and maintain dynamic routing using OSPF across the district's wide area network to ensure efficient, resilient, and scalable routing between sites.
  • Provide network infrastructure support, including local and wide-area networks, ensuring consistent performance and uptime across more than 50 schools and sites.
  • Establish and configure VPNs, VLANs, and IP subnetting to support segmentation, security, and operational requirements across the network.
  • Maintain firewalls, interpret packet captures, and support network-layer security in coordination with the district's cybersecurity team.
  • Manage and monitor all data network infrastructure, components, and bandwidth utilization using PRTG and other appropriate network management and monitoring platforms.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues across wired and wireless environments, including escalated issues beyond the scope of frontline technical support.
  • Supervise and provide direction to network support staff, including day-to-day task assignment, mentorship, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with other technology team members to design and implement network solutions that support instructional and operational initiatives.
  • Select, acquire, transport, and install all types of data network equipment and supporting components, including switches, wireless access points, and related infrastructure.
  • Manage the district's wireless infrastructure, including planning, deployment, and optimization of wireless coverage across all school sites.
  • Provide input into the budgetary process for network infrastructure, equipment replacement cycles, and emerging technology needs.
  • Work with procurement to prepare solicitations for data network products and services in accordance with district purchasing policy.
  • Work with vendors of networking products and services to provide a stable, cost-effective, highly available networking environment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network architecture, configurations, IP addressing schemes, and standard operating procedures.
  • Adhere to district data security policies and applicable regulations, including FERPA, in all network design and configuration work.
  • Must have effective communication skills with the ability to translate technical network concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

Performs other tasks as assigned by the Director of Information Technology

Job Specifications:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the District's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel. Education, Experience and Skills Required Must have a minimum of an associates degree and a minimum of five (5) years of experience designing, acquiring, installing, optimizing, monitoring, and managing large-scale (25,000+ endpoints wired/wireless computing devices, VoIP phones, environmental/power control systems, etc.)
