Position Overview:
Assists the EHS Division of Fire Safety staff with regulatory compliance and community risk reduction programs. Responsible for regular inspections and maintenance of fire safety equipment, conducts compliance inspections at campus events, and assists with fire safety drills and education events.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct Monthly Inspections:
Perform thorough checks of fire extinguishers, exit signage, emergency lights, automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and fire suppression systems.
* Utilize Reporting Software:
Efficiently use a bar code scanner on a portable palm device to log inspection data.
* Maintain Accurate Records:
Operate computer and related equipment to update and manage records and forms.
* Interpret and Record Data:
Apply judgment in interpreting inspection results and accurately recording data.
* Report Issues:
Communicate any safety concerns or equipment malfunctions to supervisory personnel within the Fire Safety Division.
* Transportation:
Operate a University motor vehicle and/or motorized golf cart to travel between multiple campus buildings.
* Campus Events:
Assist fire safety personnel with compliance inspections and report issues/violations. Monitor fire safety systems as assigned.
* Additional Duties:
Perform other related tasks as assigned to support campus safety.

Required Qualifications
MUST BE AN ACTIVE CCU STUDENT. Must be able to work summer.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Technical Proficiency:
* Experience with reporting software and bar code scanners.
* Proficiency in using computers and related equipment for record maintenance.
* Attention to Detail:
* Strong ability to maintain accurate records and interpret data.
* Keen eye for identifying potential safety issues.
* Effective Communication:
* Ability to report issues clearly and promptly to supervisors.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Mobility:
* Capability to operate vehicles for campus travel.
* Physical ability to perform inspections across multiple buildings.
* Personal Attributes:
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
* Reliability and punctuality in performing duties.
* Commitment to maintaining a safe campus environment.
