Job Summary
This is critical shift-based work within the Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC), focused on supporting field operations and enhancing public safety through technology-driven situational awareness. The role involves operating radios, telephones, and various intelligence platforms to monitor, assess, and disseminate real-time information during active incidents. Personnel receive and analyze emergency and non-emergency information, provide actionable intelligence to responding units, and coordinate with public safety personnel by communicating incident type, location, and other relevant data.
Work is fast-paced, dynamic, and requires strong decision-making under pressure. Performance is reviewed through live monitoring, data accuracy, and the effectiveness of support provided during incidents

- Monitors telephone systems and receives emergency and non-emergency calls, including 911 and administrative lines.
- Dispatches appropriate public safety units based on call type and jurisdiction.
- Maintains two-way radio communication with field personnel to ensure officer safety and provide real-time updates.
- Uses Computer-Aided Dispatch System (CADS) to enter and track calls for service, officer assignments, and status updates.
- Operates within the Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) environment, providing 24/7 situational awareness and coordination for field units.
- Monitors live surveillance systems (e.g., Iron Sky, Avigilon), automated license plate readers (FLOCK), and audio detection technologies.
- Supports active investigations by bookmarking and saving video evidence, tracking vehicles, and assisting with suspect location.
- Utilizes drone systems during Drone as First Responder (DFR) operations to enhance officer safety and situational awareness.
- Responds to GCIC/NCIC alerts, verifies warrants, and assists in locating missing persons or wanted individuals.
- Accepts and dispatches emergency notifications such as next-of-kin alerts and other high-priority messages.
- Participates in coordinated responses during severe weather or critical incidents, activating emergency protocols as required.
- Monitors and routes mental health or crisis intervention calls, coordinating with CIT or co-response units.
- Provides information to victim and witness callers, including department response details and referrals to advocacy or support resources.
- Routes non-emergency reports to the Desk Officer Reporting System (DORS) or other appropriate personnel.
- Maintains accurate call records, radio logs, and incident data.
- Conducts system checks, alarm monitoring, and scheduled testing of communication equipment.
- Follows procedures for backup communications during equipment failures and assists with CAD offline documentation when necessary.
- Participates in cross-training with patrol and other RTCC personnel.
- Assists in information sharing with regional agencies for real-time intelligence coordination.
- Ensures compliance with departmental SOPs and FCC/FAA guidelines related to radio communications and drone operations. Minimum Qualifications Licenses:
- Standard high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Successful completion of the Georgia Basic Communications Officer Training Course within 6 months of employment.
- Prior experience in the field of emergency services, including dispatching and call-taking is preferred.
