Traveling Superintendent

Job Summary

A Mechanical Construction Superintendent with strong experience in commercial construction, responsible for leading multiple large job sites, working independently with minimal oversight.

• Participate in pre‑project planning sessions to familiarize with project requirements and offer practical advice relating to project schedules.
• Organize and conduct the pre‑construction conference with subcontractors and the B&K team.
• Inspect work progress for compliance with plans, specifications and safety requirements.
• Interact professionally and timely with customers, vendors, management and stakeholders.
• Assist with job pre‑start activities and initial set up of jobsite trailer, material storage, utilities and other start‑up items.
• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of mechanical construction and installation.
• Work within contract limits to avoid back‑charges and unrecoverable costs.
• Prepare look‑ahead schedules and monitor progress.
• Delegate responsibilities to subordinates and check on their performance.
• Actively participate in the company's safety culture, demonstrating commitment to an injury‑free environment.
• Coordinate with Project Manager and division directors to ensure proper staffing and schedule adherence.
• Conduct weekly site walks to review problems, progress, subcontractor performance and quality of work.
• Own and be accountable for job installation on assigned projects.
• Proactively identify and track project critical items to manage risk and prevent schedule delays.
• Create punch lists for subcontractors.
• Oversee, conduct, and document weekly coordination meetings with subcontractors.
• Coordinate inspections for assigned scope of work.
• Coordinate other trade work associated with the assigned scope.
• Apply and lead Lean principles and practices on the jobsite (daily stand‑up meetings, pull planning, etc.) and be willing and able to travel.
• Control costs in production units by understanding multiple variables and manage subcontractor crews for portions of projects or small projects.

• Willingness to travel if required.
• Intermediate verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Knowledge of self‑perform and labor productivity.
• Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work.
• Knowledge of construction management methods.
• Intermediate layout skills.
• Ability to read and understand plans, drawings and specifications.
• Ability to assess and optimize project productivity.
• Valid driver’s license.

• High School Diploma or GED (Vocational/Technical degree in related field preferred).
• 12+ years in commercial construction working with mechanical piping projects.
• Minimum of 5 years in field supervision.

• Ability to apply Lean process and philosophy.
• Knowledge of organizational structure and available resources.
