Medical Record Coder II - Full Time -  at Rockdale Medical Center.

Description:

Applies the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to accounts for data retrieval, analysis, and claims processing. Submits queries to physicians of record when additional information is required.

• Submit queries to physicians of record when additional information is required.

• High school diploma or equivalent — Required.
• Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• In lieu of credentials, will consider candidates with 3-5 years inpatient coding experience in a hospital setting.
• General knowledge of Anatomy/Physiology, Medical Terminology, Disease Pathology, and Pathophysiology.
• Must understand DNFB and how to  work  outstanding Accounts Receivables due to lack of Final Diagnoses.
• Thorough understanding of ICD-10 Official Coding Guidelines for Coding and Reporting and AHA Coding Clinic; HCPCS/CPT coding systems and CPT Assistant and Coding Clinic for HCPCS guidelines;
  Medicare Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) and Ambulatory Payment Classification (APC).
• Knowledge of and adherence to HIM.COD policies.
• Experience with 3-5 years ICD-9-CM coding experience; experience with industry standard encoders and HIS systems; experience in Community Acute Care hospitals; experience and understanding of maintaining DNFB at low levels.

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Optional
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – Optional
• RHIT/RHIA credential – Optional
• Coding Specialist Credential – Optional
