Histotechnologist; PRN

Job Title:

Histotechnologist (PRN/As Needed) –

Rockdale Medical Center

Processes pathology specimens for microscopic examination by the pathologist.

Reports to:

Lab Manager. FLSA:
Non-exempt.

• Assist with processing specimens through cutting/microtomy, embedding/fixation, staining, cover slipping, gross exam, and cytology processing.
• Maintain work area in a safe, aseptic, and organized manner.
• Communicate test results to appropriate healthcare providers.
• Provide a superior patient experience.

• Minimum Education:
  
  High school diploma or equivalent.
• Clinical education in a histotechnician (HT) program accredited by NAACLS or an Associate Degree from a community college with hospital training.
• Required skills:
  
  critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision, work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action, knowledge of all phases of histology and anatomic pathology.
• Certifications:
  
  Histology Technologist as recognized by Georgia personnel rules; HTL (ASCP) or equivalent; graduate of a school of histologic technique (must pass registry within six months of start date).
