Manufacturing Engineer, Operations Engineer
Bishop Machine is transforming from a traditional job shop into a modern, process-driven manufacturing operation. We are hiring a hands-on Manufacturing Systems Manager to lead that transformation.
This is a player-coach role for someone who can program, lead machinists, and implement the systems required to scale a high-performance shop. You will have real authority to build, improve, and standardize how we operate.
Mission of the Role:Build the systems, standards, and team required to move Bishop from a traditional job shop environment to a modern manufacturing operation with strong programming, quality, and production discipline.
What You’ll Do
CAM & Programming
- Lead selection and implementation of CAM platform
- Establish programming standards, tool libraries, and revision control
- Program CNC work and support machinists with setups and troubleshooting
- Train team members on consistent, modern machining practices
ERP & Production Systems
- Help drive ERP rollout and adoption on the shop floor
- Ensure accurate job tracking, routing, and time reporting
- Connect quoting, scheduling, and production for real visibility
Quality & Process Discipline
- Build foundational quality systems and inspection practices
- Establish repeatable processes and work instructions
- Support development toward ISO-aligned operations
- Reduce rework and improve on-time delivery
- Lead and mentor machinists and operators
- Set clear standards for performance and accountability
- Develop training pathways for growing talent internally
- Act as a hands-on technical leader on the floor
Process Improvement
- Reduce setup times and improve throughput
- Standardize tooling and fixturing approaches
- Introduce practical KPIs and continuous improvement mindset
What We’re Looking For
- Strong CNC machining and programming background
- Experience implementing CAM, ERP, or quality systems
- Prior leadership of machinists or technical teams
- Process-driven mindset with hands-on capability
- Comfortable building structure in a growing shop

- Army Allied Trades 91E, Air Force Metals Tech 2A7X1, Navy Machinists Mates MM/Seabee, USMC Marine Machinists (MOS 2161), Coast Guard MK
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or regulated manufacturing environments
