Overview
Serves as a master-level expert responsible for guiding and mentoring the Battery Maintenance team. This role ensures all battery-related work meets high-quality standards and supports operational excellence by resolving escalated technical issues, monitoring workflows, and recommending process improvements. The Lead Technician is a hands-on position assembling, installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing EV battery packs and contributing to team efficiency through strategic suggestions.
Responsibilities- Leads, coaches, and mentors the Battery Maintenance team as master technicians.
- Ensure battery work meets quality standards and contributes to overall operational excellence.
- Collaborates with management on job forecasting, resource planning, and scheduling.
- Promotes and enforces safety and compliance standards.
- Resolves escalated issues from technicians, customers, and stakeholders.
- Monitors workflows and recommends process improvements.
- Acts as liaison with Vehicle Operations for battery and service coordination.
- Suggest ways to enhance team efficiency and effectiveness.
- Performs battery assembly, installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair.
- Supports battery refurbishment and disassembly.
- Maintains charging equipment and conducts performance tests.
- Diagnoses and repairs non-working batteries.
- Adjusts charge parameters and inspects battery components.
- Replaces defective parts and reassembles batteries.
- Reports personnel concerns to the Supervisor (without managing performance).
- Sorts materials and prepares batteries for shipping.
- Uses test equipment to verify battery condition and performance.
- Cleans batteries and communicates with the Supervisor.
- Ensure timely and accurate updates to the Alfred CMMS database with relevant maintenance and production data to support operational efficiency and equipment reliability.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma/GED and 7 years' experience. Alternative: any level degree/certification beyond HS in a related discipline with 5 years' experience; or 9 years' experience in a related field.
- Strong knowledge of hand and power tools and computer efficiency.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving, teamwork and collaboration abilities to work effectively with teams across the organization.
- Ability to read written operating instructions.
- Commitment to safety.
- Degree or certification in a related discipline automotive or technical.
- Experience in the EV Battery industry, preferably in the automotive sector.
USD 29.38 - 44.09 per hour. Hourly base pay rate is $29.38 - $44.09/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on location and the candidate 0's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission and/or an incentive program.
BenefitsEmployees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
