Maintenance Assistant

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor / Maintenance Manager

The Maintenance Assistant supports the maintenance department in keeping sheet metal manufacturing equipment, tooling, and facility systems operating safely and efficiently. This position assists with preventive maintenance, basic troubleshooting, repairs, and general upkeep of production equipment and the facility.

• Assist with routine preventive maintenance on sheet metal manufacturing equipment including press brakes, shears, lasers, turret punches, roll formers, and welding equipment
• Support troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues under the direction of maintenance personnel
• Perform basic repairs such as replacing belts, bearings, hoses, filters, and lubricating equipment
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the maintenance shop, tools, and work areas
• Assist with facility maintenance including lighting, doors, compressed air systems, and general building upkeep
• Complete maintenance work orders and document repairs performed
• Follow all safety policies and procedures, including lockout/tagout
• Assist with equipment installation, relocation, and upgrades
• Communicate equipment issues and safety concerns to maintenance and production leadership

• High school diploma or GED
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn industrial maintenance skills
• Ability to use basic hand and power tools
• Ability to read and follow manuals, work instructions, and safety procedures
• Strong attention to detail and safety
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment
• Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication equipment
• Basic knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems
• Trade school, technical training, or apprenticeship experience

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods
• Ability to work around moving machinery, noise, dust, and varying temperatures
