An entry-level production role focused on material handling and maintaining the work environment. Key duties include loading and feeding materials into the machine or stacking/unitizing finished product, assisting with general labor and cleanup tasks, and complying with all safety and housekeeping rules in the work area. This role is a foundation for advancing up the machine crew progression.
Responsibilities- Stage, prepare, lift, and load materials and other components required for the production process; may also utilize a computerized, mechanical, or automatic process to lift and/or load materials.
- Monitor and adjust gauges, valves, switches, pumps, and other components according to production requirements; follow appropriate sampling and quality control techniques.
- Lift and prepare items required for the filling, labeling, packaging, and transporting of products.
- Operate a variety of computerized, manual, and mechanical equipment to process, unload, label, pack, and store work‑in‑progress and finished goods.
- Ensure compliance with operating policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment and efficient operations; may require wearing safety equipment or gear.
- Complete appropriate paperwork and/or enter data regarding materials, work‑in‑progress, finished goods, and other operations to ensure records and actions are accurate.
- Assist with maintaining a clean and safe working environment and perform various janitorial or housekeeping tasks.
- Communicate with maintenance, quality control, warehousing, and other departments to maintain a safe and effective environment and to ensure quality products.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or GED.
Language SkillsExperience with in a manufacturing or production environment is preferred. Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
Mathematical SkillsAble to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
Technical Skills- Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.
- Product layouts and production specifications.
- Product quality specifications.
- Quality standards.
May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.
Physical DemandsThe employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. Frequently uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally required to sit. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WorkEnvironment
The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Performance MeasurementsOperating standards – the employee will need to meet or exceed the Operating Standards in the areas of quality, cost, safety, customer satisfaction and productivity. Such standards are set annually and communicated to the employee.
Personal growth – the company will provide the tools to assist the employee to grow professionally; however the responsibility for moving forward lies with the individual. Each year there will be goals developed and agreed to by the employee and his/her superior.
Employee relations – through observations the employee will be evaluated regarding behaviors associated with appropriate human interaction, respect and communication.
