About the Program

View Point Health’s Autism Crisis Stabilization Unit program provides psychiatric crisis intervention and stabilization services to adolescents. Our facility is a 10‑bed crisis stabilization unit located on 7 acres of land in Conyers, Georgia. We serve adolescents ages 10–14 on the Autism Spectrum and provide a multidisciplinary team approach incorporating Applied Behavior Analysis, mental health clinical services, and medication management.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Interact and offer support to clients with Spectrum Disorder and other co-occurring diagnoses.
  • Serve as a liaison between the admitting facility, guardian, and our onsite team regarding client referrals and collateral information.
  • Assess each client upon arrival, monitor changes in condition, and prepare shift reports.
  • Document daily and shift nursing notes, nursing assessments, and develop the initial nursing treatment plan.
  • Collect collateral information related to ABA therapy and administer medications related to crisis intervention services.
  • Provide clinical and medical input for the multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Collaborate with Direct Care Staff and follow direction of the Registered Nurse to oversee client care.
  • Deliver medical treatment including PPE, blood draws, urine sampling, medication administration (following the eight rights and two identifiers), charting, patient education, and discharge planning.
  • Maintain client safety and wellness, monitor stable medical conditions, and report findings to the provider and treatment team.
  • Document all vital client information in the electronic health record according to standards and orient new staff to the unit.
  • Provide relief for breaks and cover Direct Care floor coverage as needed.
  • Attend all training courses, nurses’ meetings, and other staff meetings as assigned.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Vocational/Technical degree from an accredited college.
  • Current Georgia license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Six months of nursing experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years of nursing experience.
  • One year of experience in a crisis or psychiatric unit.
  • Experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum.
  • Experience working with adults.
  • Experience working with psychiatric adults.
Requirements / Competencies
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
  • Requires long periods of sitting or standing.
  • Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license and maintain a Motor Vehicle Record in accordance with company policy.
  • Candidates must pass a criminal background check (including fingerprinting).
  • Candidates must pass a pre‑employment drug screen and be subject to random drug screens.
  • Any combination of training and experience that would enable the applicant to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
