Role Description The Registered Nurse, Outpatient Oncology is a full-time, on-site role based in Conyers, GA. This nurse provides comprehensive, patient-centered care to individuals undergoing outpatient oncology treatment, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive therapies. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing and monitoring patients, administering medications and infusions, managing side effects, and coordinating care across the interdisciplinary team. The nurse educates patients and families about treatment plans, symptom management, and health maintenance, while promoting safety, comfort, and emotional support.
The role also involves accurate documentation, adherence to oncology nursing standards and regulatory requirements, participation in quality improvement initiatives, and collaboration with physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, and other caregivers.
Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia; BSN or higher in Nursing preferred.
- Clinical oncology skills, including experience with chemotherapy administration, infusion therapy, and oncology symptom management.
- Strong patient assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making abilities in an outpatient setting.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and supporting patients and families.
- Proficiency in electronic health records, documentation, and basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of safety protocols, infection prevention, and regulatory standards in oncology practice.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple patients and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Current BLS certification;
Oncology Nursing Certification (e.g., OCN) or infusion certification preferred. - Experience in outpatient oncology, hematology, or infusion center nursing strongly preferred.
