Summary
Peachtree Academy is searching for a talented person to prepare great-tasting lunch and snacks at our Christian-based preschool. This person must be clean, organized, and possess knowledge of ordering food and supplies. The ideal candidate can create nutritious options for preschool and elementary students. Additional ordering and planning are needed occasionally for school events, sports activities, and functions. Extra hours are available on-site if desired in our after school enrichment program.
Salary is based on experience and references. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Full-time hours may be available based on your interview with the Director. Drop in for an interview on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
- Safely prepare and distribute all food to classrooms (lunch and snacks)
- Menu planning to meet nutritional guidelines and maintaining food budget on a monthly basis. As often as possible include fresh fruits and vegetables are given to the children as much as possible.
- Ordering of all food and food service supplies (create order and give to Finance Dept for ordering)
- Checking all deliveries against orders
- Clean and inspect the equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation.
- Cook foods according to menus, and special dietary or nutritional restrictions.
- Clean, cut, and cook meat or poultry.
- Wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils, or other cooking equipment.
- Compile and maintain records of food use and expenditures.
- Take inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Monitor menus and spending to ensure that meals are prepared economically.
- Plan varied, nutritionally balanced, and delicious menus, taking advantage of foods in season and local availability.
- Ordering/making a list of all food and food service supplies that are needed.
- Adhere to strict food safety and sanitation protocols, including proper food storage, preparation, and handling.
- Delivers meals to classrooms (breakfast, lunch and snacks).
- Is responsible for making sure children with food allergies receive appropriate food, milk, etc.
- Storing foods appropriately, before and after preparation, in the refrigerator, freezer and pantry.
- Ensure that all food items are properly labeled, stored, and rotated to minimize waste.
- Every day will be responsible for washing and sterilizing dishes, pots and utensils.
- Washes countertops and sinks daily.
- Regularly clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and food storage areas to ensure a hygienic environment.
- Sweep and mop the kitchen/breakfast area; and take out trash from the kitchen area daily.
- Clean staff bathroom(s), common areas, and lobby weekly or as needed, including trash removal.
- Be a team player and help with additional responsibilities before or after prep and cooking time are completed.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

- Is enthusiastic about preparing nutritious meals for children, independent in responsibility, and manages time efficiently.
- Knowledge of serving size and nutritional requirements.
- Reports to work on time.
- Is dependable, and absenteeism is kept at a minimum.
- Prior experience in cooking for children or in a daycare/school setting preferred.
- Has good personal hygiene.
- Follow the supervisor's instructions.
- Is mature, stable, friendly, warm, patient, understanding, tactful, and courteous.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required).
- Pass a background check
- CPR/1st Aid
- 15 hours Health & Safety Training (within 90 days)
- Assist with breaks in classrooms.
