Job Summary

Concrete Finishers are skilled tradespersons who work with concrete, specializing in pouring, leveling, smoothing, and finishing concrete surfaces. The ability to work on a variety of construction projects, such as sidewalks, floors, roads, and curbs, utilizing hand and power tools to finish concrete surfaces, including trowels, screeds, and floats. The application of sealants and waterproofing treatments, repair and resurface existing concrete, and ensure that all work meets specifications and quality standards

Smooth and finish surfaces of poured concrete, such as floors, sidewalks, roads, or curbs, using a variety of hand and power tools.

Level, shape, and trowel concrete surfaces to achieve the desired texture and appearance.

Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure surfaces, ensuring durability and strength.

Monitor the effects of weather and environmental conditions on the curing process, adjusting as needed.

Repair and resurface existing concrete structures, as well as patching voids and defects into new concrete.

Set and align forms to ensure proper concrete placement and alignment according to project specifications.

Operate equipment such as screeds, trowels, and floats, ensuring proper maintenance and care of all tools and equipment.

Mix concrete by hand or with mechanical mixers to ensure consistency and quality.

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout and requirements of concrete finishing work.

Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.

Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and other tradespeople to coordinate tasks and ensure project progress.

Maintain cleanliness and organization on the job site, including cleaning tools, equipment, and work areas after completing tasks.

Additional Duties:

Employees in this classification may be expected to perform any related duties as required by proper authority.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Proven experience as a Concrete Finisher or in a similar role within the construction industry.

Strong knowledge of concrete mixing, pouring, finishing, and curing techniques.

Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment used in concrete finishing.

Physical stamina and strength to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions.

Attention to detail and a focus on quality to ensure that all work meets project specifications and standards.

Basic knowledge of safety regulations and practices related to construction and concrete work.

Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an outdoor environment exposed to noise, dirt, dust, cement, other finishing chemicals, and sustained periods of various weather conditions including heat. Requires the use of PPE (personal protection equipment) i.e. safety vest, gloves, glasses, etc.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent education is preferred but not required.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a lead concrete finisher working on a variety of construction projects, such as sidewalks, floors, roads, curbs experience and experience with rebar and steel plates.
  • OR a combination of education and experience equivalent to numbers #1 and #2 above.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate with others on the job site.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Proficient and experienced in using hand and power tools
  • Valid State of Georgia Driver's License
