Job Overview & Essential Functions
Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC, North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group, is looking for a Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic. The role performs heavy‑duty mechanical repair under general supervision and includes on‑the‑job training in a development program to achieve Service Journeyman status.
Responsibilities- Performs and/or assists in the performance of general mechanical duties.
- Gains experience by working on the following items with minimal supervision: engine overhaul, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, brakes, engine tune‑up, and general maintenance.
- Works on major components with close supervision.
- Performs troubleshooting on minor problems.
- Attends training sessions and meetings.
- Maintains a neat and orderly working area, and proper handling of company tools.
- Advises the Shop Foreman if additional repair work is necessary.
- Follows safe work practices and procedures, uses safety equipment when required, responds to suggestions for working safely and seeks assistance when necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
This position is designated as a safety‑sensitive position. Performing the job while under the influence of marijuana or any illegal drug may constitute a risk to health or safety or could lead to injury, illness, or death, especially when operating or maintaining heavy equipment, machinery, motorized watercraft, or motor vehicles or handling hazardous materials.
Qualifications- CDL preferred.
- Minimum three years hands‑on experience or graduation from a vocational course.
- A/C, Brake and DOT Annual Inspector Certifications required.
