Southway is looking to add an experienced full‑time Crane/Truck mechanic to our growing branch. This role requires meeting all listed qualifications.
SummarySouthway Crane and Rigging Inc. is currently seeking a full‑time experienced Crane/Truck Technician Mechanic to help build our branch location. The mechanic will perform maintenance and repairs on cranes, forklifts, and various other equipment. The position follows all State and Federal laws while operating motor vehicles and observes all safety and environmental policies.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least 3 years’ experience as a mobile crane mechanic/technician, able to inspect cranes and diagnose defects.
- Knowledge of CANBUS, PAT, ECOS, LICCON systems.
- Ability to read and understand operating manuals, parts manuals, and technical drawings.
- Experience testing mechanical, electronic, electrical and hydraulic products and equipment after repair or modification to ensure proper operation and compliance with OEM specifications.
- Capable of accomplishing tasks independently without direct supervision.
- Observe and maintain all equipment according to all safety requirements.
- Properly maintain all reports (time sheets, work orders, expense reports, etc.).
- Ability to work overtime as well as on weekends.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Valid TWIC card or ability to acquire one promptly.
- Ability to interpret, read, and write reports in English.
- Mechanical and analytical skills.
- Ability to interpret, read, and troubleshoot using schematic.
- Ability to prioritize, organize work, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to operate crane by viewing hand signals.
- Supply your own tools with an up‑to‑date tool inventory.
- Perform scheduled maintenance on cranes, forklifts, and other equipment.
- Document all maintenance and repairs performed on the equipment and file records properly.
- Strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Lift up to 40 lb.
- Pass a drug screen and background check.
- Understand electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic circuits (a plus).
- Work some evenings and weekends at the shop.
- Verbal communicate safety issues to customers and co‑workers on location before and during job tasks.
- Report to supervisor and/or lead mechanic on completion of assigned job task for next assignment.
- Other duties as assigned.
