Skilled Asphalt Laborer

The Skilled Laborer - Asphalt Crew performs a variety of manual labor and equipment-related tasks associated with asphalt paving, patching, grading, and roadway construction projects. This position works closely with crew members and equipment operators to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality asphalt operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

* Assist with asphalt paving, patching, and repair operations.

* Perform handwork including raking, shoveling, lute work, and rolling edges.

* Assist in preparing job sites by cleaning, grading, and setting up traffic control devices.

* Operate small tools and equipment such as plate compactors, saws, blowers, and hand tools.

* Check and maintain proper asphalt mat appearance, thickness, and quality.

* Assist equipment operators with daily production activities.

* Load and unload materials, tools, and supplies.

* Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.

* Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

* Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around heavy equipment.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

* Previous experience in asphalt paving, road construction, or heavy civil construction preferred.

* Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, walking, bending, and working in hot conditions.

* Knowledge of asphalt paving practices and construction safety procedures preferred.

* Ability to work as part of a team and follow directions from supervisors.

* Reliable transportation and dependable attendance required.

* Valid driver's license preferred.

Work Environment:

* Outdoor construction environment.

* Exposure to heat, dust, noise, and moving equipment.

* Frequent standing, walking, lifting, bending, and repetitive physical activity.

* Overtime, night work, and weekend work may be required based on project needs.
