Description of Job Duty:

Nine-month tenure-track position with responsibilities in teaching and advising, research, and service.

Essential Functions:

Nine-month tenure-track position with responsibilities in teaching and advising, research, and service. The successful candidate is expected to teach a broad spectrum of undergraduate animal science courses including, but not limited to, animal breeding, livestock evaluation, reproductive physiology, and livestock production and management. Develop a productive research program in his or her area of expertise through procuring grants and contracts, advising undergraduate and graduate students, and publishing high quality research results in scientific or professional journals.

Serve as an academic advisor for Animal Science and Pre-veterinary Science students and student organizations toward competitive career placement in the livestock industry. Service to the school, college and university and to the agricultural community of Tennessee is expected.

Commensurate with education and experience.

Benefits Information:

Benefits include the accumulation of one (1) sick leave day per month and thirteen (13) University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and educational benefits. Deferred income and benefits over 12 months.

Minimum Qualifications:

An earned Ph.D. in Animal Science discipline by employment start date from an accredited institution. Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Ph.D. in animal breeding and genetics with substantial experience in livestock production and management.

* Demonstrated ability to facilitate experiential learning and provide excellence in undergraduate teaching.

* Demonstrated excellence to conduct research and disseminate scientific information in peer reviewed journals.

* Demonstrated abilities for effective academic and career advising of undergraduate students.

* Demonstrated ability to communicate and work with alumni, community, agricultural groups and agencies.
