Responsible for the overall operation of one residence hall/area. This includes being available on campus after hours and on weekends (when on call) to respond to emergencies, and providing student support for a variety of student issues that arise throughout the year. Provides support and direction for the development of a positive community as well as providing leadership in the enforcement of hall policies.
Responsible for leadership in some of the following areas: marketing; assessment;
Residence Hall Association;
Tech Wars; intramurals; programming; themed housing; community service projects; or managing the department programming resource office. Provide administrative support which includes: building maintenance reporting; follow up, room safety/security checks, maintain office hours; maintain room inventories, complete room changes, key control/inventories, building security. Supervise student staff to include training, development and evaluation.

Essential Functions:
Work with student staff and students in the development of positive communities. Work with student staff and student leaders to provide activities and educational programs. Enforce campus policy. Advise hall councils. Provide student support for issues that arise throughout the year, e.g., roommate and student conflicts, personal support, behavior issues, etc. Provide administrative support which includes: building maintenance reporting and follow-up, room safety/security checks, maintain office hours, maintain room inventories, complete room changes, key control/inventories and building security.
Provide student staff support which includes: selection, training and supervision of Resident Assistants and Desk Workers. Serve in an on call duty rotation; address both student and building issues. Be available (when on duty) after hours, responding to necessary issues and emergencies (about one week every two months). Responsible for leadership in some of the following areas: marketing; assessment;
Residence Hall Association;
Tech Wars; intramurals; programming; community service projects; themed housing in your area; or manage the department programming resource office.
Physical Demands:
As the lead person responsible for the hall the staff member will need to get around the hall to look at the facilities as well as meet with the residents. They live in the hall, as well as have an office in the hall. They have about 30 office hours per week. Lifting or much manual dexterity is not particularly necessary.
Work Hours:
Full-time, live-in/on position. Office hours:
Monday-Friday, plus evening responsibilities/student and staff meetings. Evening; weekend duty hours include an average of 1 week every 2 months, shared evening and weekend on-call duty with other Hall Directors.

Level P2, Grade 6.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution. One year of leadership experience as a Resident Assistant, Senior RA, Residence Hall Association President, or related position within higher education. Ability to communicate and work well with others. A basic understanding of student development.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two years of housing experience (Resident Assistant, Senior RA). Additional leadership experience; i.e., Residence Hall Association/SGA President, Study Abroad, Eagle Scout, etc. Student staff supervision.
