Assistant Professor of Violin​/Viola

The School of Music at Tennessee Tech University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Violin/Viola, beginning August 2027.

Duties include (1) teaching Applied Violin and Viola, (2) teaching string pedagogy courses and String Methods, (3) a supervisory/teaching role in the Tennessee Tech String Project, and (4) coaching string chamber groups. Duties also include performing as Concertmaster with the resident professional Bryan Symphony Orchestra and assisting with string sectionals. Additional teaching duties may be assigned depending on departmental needs and the candidate's expertise.

The candidate will be expected to actively recruit violin and viola students and build and maintain professional relationships with K-12 school music teachers. In addition, the successful candidate will engage in university service and outreach.

• Earned Doctorate in Music required (ABD may be considered) Evidence of excellence as a performer and teacher

• Experience as a professional performer in solo, orchestral, and chamber settings Experience as a teacher in higher education, in private instruction and/or in the public schools Evidence of success in recruiting/retaining high-level students Experience in Research, Scholarship and/or Creative Activity related to violin/viola/string performance and teaching Potential to develop a regional and national profile as a teacher and performer
