Role
Summary:
The Materials Manager is responsible for effectively managing materials to meet enterprise inventory, order-to-delivery, lead-time, and labor/manufacturing productivity targets at the Cookeville, Tennessee valve and actuator production facility. The role includes oversight of master production scheduling, planning activities, warehouse operations, and all material transactions within the plant. This position also leads the planning team in long-, medium-, and short-range planning, master data governance, and ERP utilization.
The role reports to plant management for site-level responsibilities and to the corporate materials management function to support enterprise standards and initiatives.
- Develop, manage, and coach planning team members
- Oversee materials planning processes, including SIOP, Demand Management, MPS, MRP, Production Control, and Inventory Management
- Develop materials strategies to support order-to-delivery and lead-time targets while optimizing inventory investment
- Manage past-due backlog, develop recovery plans, and oversee reporting and improvement projects
- Ensure production schedules maximize utilization of manufacturing assets while maintaining schedule adherence, on-time delivery (OTD), backlog, and inventory targets
- Ensure planning processes align with corporate and facility initiatives
- Align ERP planning activities with project management milestones
- Oversee warehouse and inventory management processes
- Manage inventory for Percentage of Completion (POC)
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment using ERP systems in a materials planning role
- Strong leadership experience
- Demonstrated success leading continuous improvement initiatives
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and manage financial data
- Proficiency in ERP systems (preferably SAP)
- Ability to manage large data sets, including items, routings, BOMs, and work centers
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
- Lean certification (Green Belt or Black Belt)
- Commercial orientation and strong analytical capabilities
