HOURSMonday - Friday; 6:00am-2:00pm; on-call rotation approximately every 6 weeks.
JOB SUMMARYEmployees in this class are under general supervision. Work performed in maintaining the wastewater facility.
Examples of work performed: repairs and performs the maintenance on the Wastewater facility, assembles and overhauls pumps, valves, electric motors, and other equipment. Installs, repairs, and replaces electrical equipment; inspects defective equipment and diagnoses malfunctions; orders necessary parts and supplies; prepares and maintains records for all equipment, parts, and supplies. Operates boom truck and other machinery, as needed. Diagnoses and repairs electric/control malfunctions when they arise.
Operates computer for checking plant operations, (SCADA); performs facility and vehicle maintenance; performs other work as required. Subject to on-call work as scheduled by the Superintendent, including some weekend work.
Knowledge of the materials and equipment used in servicing a wastewater treatment facility
Knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance of equipment and machinery
Knowledge of programmable logic controllers and variable frequency drives
Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions
Ability to service and overhaul pumps and equipment used in a wastewater system
Ability to use the necessary tools, welders, torches, drills, saws, and other necessary equipment
Ability to operate a boom truck
Ability to operate light motor vehicles
Ability to keep routine records and make reports
Ability to operate computer for checking plant operations (SCADA)
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the public and other employees
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSA high school education or equivalent is required. Must possess a valid TN driver's license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSA two-year degree in industrial/electrical maintenance or three (3) years' experience as a maintenance technician is preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS PhysicalWork involves frequent physical exertion including walking, climbing, bending, stooping, and lifting. Requires physical strength when manipulating pumps and equipment.
EnvironmentalWorker may be exposed to biological hazards through contact with raw sewage; hydrogen sulfide; and methane gas as well as hazards such as dirt, oil, grease, noise and temperature extremes. Responsibilities include working with active electrical circuits. Work is performed in all weather conditions.
