Position Title: Underground Pipe Foreman

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

Lean Synergy Solutions is seeking an experienced Underground Pipe Foreman to support heavy civil water and wastewater construction projects throughout Tennessee. This role is designed for a hands-on field leader with underground utility and pipe installation experience, strong knowledge of line and grade, and the ability to turn project requirements into a safe, organized, production-focused work plan for the crew. The ideal candidate can read plans and specifications, coordinate with equipment operators, monitor field conditions, maintain accurate reporting, and help deliver quality work on active job sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support crews assembling, installing, and repairing underground pipe, fittings, valves, storm and sanitary sewers, drains, water mains, and related utility systems.
  • Set up and use pipe lasers, levels, and transits to position pipe and fittings in trenches and maintain accurate line and grade.
  • Read and interpret project plans, drawings, specifications, take-off quantities, and site conditions to support accurate field execution.
  • Measure, cut, install, backfill, and leak-test pipe systems using approved methods, materials, and safety practices.
  • Coordinate with equipment operators using hand signals and clear job-site communication during excavation, placement, backfill, and lifting activities.
  • Turn work requirements into a prioritized daily plan for the crew, follow project schedules, and help meet production goals.
  • Check tools and equipment for proper working condition, maintain a clean and safe job site, and prepare reports as required.
  • Travel to project sites throughout Tennessee as work requires.

Required Qualifications
  • Candidates should have relevant hands-on field experience in heavy civil construction, underground pipe installation, and water/wastewater projects.
  • Prior foreman, crew lead, or field leadership experience in underground utility or pipe installation environments is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of pipe laying for water mains, sanitary sewers, storm sewer, and related utility systems is required.
  • Ability to read and understand plans, specifications, drawings, project schedules, site conditions, and verbal instructions is required.
  • Ability to understand line and grade, shoot grade with a level, set up a pipe laser, and take accurate measurements is required.
  • General knowledge of heavy equipment operations, maintenance awareness, and safe coordination around active equipment is required.
  • Experience working with poured-in-place concrete structures and heavy civil project environments is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Trench safety and rigging/signaling training are preferred.
  • Experience with ductile iron, steel, PVC, and other underground pipe materials is preferred.
  • Commercial, industrial, pump station, water treatment, or wastewater treatment project experience is a plus.
