Job Title
Provide a world-class learner experience for Central Arizona College students. Perform instruction-related and other duties and responsibilities in accordance with the philosophy, vision, mission, policies, and procedures of the College. This position is expected to be based at CAC's Signal Peak Campus, however it is a district-wide position and travel to and teaching at other campuses may be required. This position is scheduled to begin SPRING 2027 - January 11, 2027 Anticipated Start Date
ResponsibilitiesTeach Engineering classes throughout our curriculum, including EGR
102 Introduction to Engineering, EGR
120 Digital Design Fundamentals, and EGR
222 Circuits I, and Math and/or other related coursework in accordance with the college workload policy and in a variety of potential modalities (e.g., face-to-face, online, hybrid, accelerated, evening or late start classes) on any campus, site or center as dictated by the needs of students.
Engineering pedagogy will incorporate activity- and project-based learning.
Involvement in the NASA Arizona Space Grant High-Altitude Balloon Payload Grant and team-teaching the associated course (SCI
195). Involvement in our Engineering Projects classes (SCI
195A, SCI
195B).
Offer mentoring/career exploration opportunities to students majoring in engineering.
Evaluate effectiveness of the engineering pathway for the purpose of continuous improvement in curriculum and pedagogy.
Coordinate outreach activities that promote the college's engineering pathway.
Collaborate with regional high school engineering instructors on curriculum design and development that support transfer pathways in engineering.
Provide and present information, content, and context through lecture, laboratory, recitation, seminars and/or other learning venues utilizing a variety of teaching/learning styles as appropriate to the course content.
Employ a variety of assessment tools; evaluates grades and comments on student work in order to facilitate and ensure student progress throughout the course.
Communicate with students as appropriate. This may include email, online discussions, virtual chats within Blackboard, instant messaging (IM), telephone and/or face-to-face consultations to provide frequent feedback. Establish and maintain office hours per college policy.
Maintain records of student progress and performance; completes and returns required reports to the appropriate office by established due date.
Develop, prepare and evaluate instructional materials.
Write and develop syllabi and course calendars.
Review and update course outlines, text selection and syllabi in cooperation with other faculty and appropriate district academic chair or program director.
Propose and develop new courses, curriculum, programs, instructional materials, and evaluation tools as necessary to meet the needs of the students and community.
Assist in recruitment and retention of students through the development and implementation of teaching and learning strategies primarily in the instructional setting.
Cultivate development of instructional programs and knowledge of trends, pedagogy, andragogy, and new technologies.
QualificationsEducation:
Master's degree in engineering or a master's degree in a related field with 18 graduate credits in engineering from a regionally accredited institution of higher education. DESIRABLE
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Community College teaching experience.
2.Background in Electrical Engineering
3.Experience with working with a diverse population of students at varying academic levels (developmental through transfer level), networking and collaborating with external institutions, designing engineering curriculum. Salary:
