Position Summary
The NVH Repair Technician is responsible for diagnosing, analyzing, and repairing vehicle concerns related to Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH), including squeaks, rattles, wind noise, water leaks, and electrical concerns. This role requires strong automotive diagnostic and repair experience, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to identify and resolve difficult-to-duplicate vehicle issues. All work must be completed in accordance with approved repair procedures, safety requirements, and customer quality standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Inspect vehicles for reported squeaks, rattles, vibrations, wind noise, water leaks, and electrical concerns.
- Perform stationary and road test evaluations, when authorized, to verify and reproduce vehicle concerns.
- Diagnose and identify the root cause of NVH, electrical, and water intrusion issues.
- Repair squeaks and rattles involving:
- Interior trim
- Instrument panels
- Seats
- Doors
- Center consoles
- Headliners
- Body panels
- Fasteners, clips, seals, and related components
- Perform approved corrective actions including adjustments, tightening, resealing, insulation, padding, and component replacement.
- Conduct water-leak testing using approved procedures and equipment.
- Inspect weatherstripping, seals, body seams, glass areas, doors, liftgates, and other potential water-entry points.
- Remove and reinstall interior and exterior vehicle components as necessary to access and repair affected areas.
- Verify completed repairs through functional testing, water testing, and NVH evaluations.
- Ensure repairs do not create additional damage, cosmetic defects, warning lights, or secondary vehicle concerns.
- Protect vehicle interiors, painted surfaces, glass, and customer property throughout the repair process.
- Accurately document inspection findings, root causes, repairs performed, materials used, and final verification results.
- Communicate recurring defects, quality concerns, and repair limitations to leadership and quality teams.
- Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and assigned work areas in a clean and organized condition.
- Follow all customer-specific procedures, repair instructions, quality requirements, and safety policies.
- Perform other related automotive repair and quality duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in automotive diagnostics, repair, trim, body repair, manufacturing, or dealership technician roles preferred.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing automotive squeaks, rattles, wind noise, and water leaks strongly preferred.
- Ability to remove and reinstall vehicle trim and components without causing damage.
