Part-Time Bookkeeper
Faith Lutheran Church | Coon Rapids, MN
$23.00–$26.00 per hour | 24 hours per week | In-person
About the Position
Faith Lutheran Church is seeking a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented Part-Time Bookkeeper to join our team and help keep our financial operations running smoothly.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced bookkeeper who enjoys working independently, takes pride in accurate and organized work, and appreciates being part of a collaborative team. The Bookkeeper works closely with our Business Administrator and plays an important role in helping ensure that church resources are handled with care, accuracy, confidentiality, and good stewardship.
The ideal candidate is confident and competent in their work while also being humble enough to ask questions when needed

You do not need to have previous church experience to be successful in this position. We welcome experienced bookkeeping and accounting professionals from a variety of backgrounds who are interested in using their skills in a meaningful, service-oriented environment.
Schedule
This is a 24-hour-per-week position with a consistent daytime schedule:
- Monday–Thursday: 9:00 AM–2:30 PM
- Includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break
- Friday: 9:00 AM–1:00 PM
This is an in-person position based in our main office in Coon Rapids, Minnesota.
Pay & Benefits$23.00–$26.00 per hour

The Bookkeeper will be responsible for a variety of day-to-day financial and administrative responsibilities, including:
- Maintain accurate and confidential church financial records
- Process contributions, receipts, disbursements, and journal entries
- Manage accounts payable and prepare/print checks, ensuring appropriate approvals are obtained
- Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll
- Reconcile bank and investment accounts
- Prepare financial reports and related documentation as needed
- Assist with year-end financial procedures and annual audit preparation
- Help ensure compliance with church policies and applicable federal and state requirements
- Maintain organized paper and electronic records
- Provide occasional receptionist support when volunteers are unavailable
- Participate in staff meetings and regular meetings with the Business Administrator
- Support other financial and administrative needs of the church as appropriate
Required Qualifications
- 2–3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Experience with payroll and accounts payable/receivable
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Experience with accounting software, spreadsheets, databases, and standard office equipment
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality when handling financial and personal information
- Ability to successfully complete a background check as determined by Faith Lutheran Church
Experience working in a church or nonprofit environment is welcome but not required.
