Working Title:
MnSCU Academic Professional2‑Veterans Academic Advisor.
- Provide comprehensive advising services for Anoka‑Ramsey Community College students, including clarifying their academic interests, preparing for admission to majors, pursuing declared majors, and changing academic goals.
- Lead the department by coordinating schedules, hiring and training student workers, and overseeing daily operations.
- Develop and monitor a comprehensive assessment plan to ensure continuous improvement of advising services.
- Serve as an organizational and team lead for assigned academic programs and student populations, managing ongoing activities, services, and work groups.
- Collaborate effectively with Student Services offices, faculty, and academic departments to meet institutional goals.
- Participate in program and event development and serve on college committees.
- Work primarily on the Rapids campus with periodic engagement at the Cambridge campus; hybrid schedule with telework opportunities is possible based on department needs.
- Evidence of commitment to the success of culturally, ethnically, and racially diverse students, staff, and faculty.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of college student development.
- Ability to learn, understand, explain, and communicate a variety of degree requirements and policies.
- Ability to work with a wide variety of student needs, including referrals to internal and external resources.
- Presentation skills to effectively promote and represent the college.
- Proficiency with personal computing/technology; working knowledge of Microsoft Office and comfort utilizing multiple types of technology to provide advising services.
- One (1) year of professional experience in advising or student services in higher education.
- Experience working with veterans and military‑connected students, including familiarity with veterans benefits and related processes.
- Experience with project management.
- Experience with early alert and/or student success software such as Navigate
360. - Ability to plan, organize, and administer multiple activities and meet deadlines.
- Experience working collaboratively as part of a team.
- Evidence of creating and implementing a variety of training methods.
- Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or a related field.
