Paraeducator Special Education

Para educator Special Education – 2026‑27

Full‑time position: 184 days/6.5 hrs/day.

4 positions available.

• Assists in the instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room or center‑based settings.
• Managing behavior (redirecting, calming or removing a disruptive student from the classroom).
• Monitoring and recording student progress in instructional areas (academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, social skills, etc.).
• Managing physical needs (toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, transporting students in wheelchairs, etc.).

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Personal Care Assistant certification completed within 30 days of start date.
• Completed 60 semester / 90 quarter credits or obtained an associate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution, or passed the Para Educator exam or Para Pro exam (documentation required).
• Good communication, interpersonal, and record‑keeping skills.
• Ability/desire to work with technology and computers.
• Ability to work cooperatively with students and staff, supervise students, take direction, and maintain regular attendance, including completing assigned days.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
• Able to perform position responsibilities, including physical tasks (toileting, feeding, self‑care procedures), implementing a behavioral management program, maintaining student data, and working with students who may display aggressive, abusive, or inappropriate verbal/physical behavior.
• Must be physically working in the building.

$20.85/hour to $25.50/hour DOQ with K‑12 experience

$22.00/hour to $26.65/hour with AA/AAS degree or 60 semester/90 quarter credits from a regionally accredited institution, DOQ with K‑12 experience

$22.85/hour to $27.50/hour with BA degree from a regionally accredited institution, DOQ with K‑12 experience

Special Ed Paras serving center‑based students and classrooms 50 percent or more of their time shall receive an additional $0.50 per hour.

Special Ed Paras at Two Rivers Transition Program shall receive an additional $1.00 per hour.

Special Ed Paras at River Trail Learning Center shall receive an additional $1.50 in hourly compensation.

8/31/26. Position may be filled after a 5‑day posting period.

Insurance benefits available for assigned positions of 6 hours or more per day.
