Para educator Special Education
Full‑Time, 184 days / 6.5 hrs/day.
3 Positions Available.
DutiesAssists in the instruction of students with disabilities in mainstream, resource room, or center‑based settings. Job duties may include:
- Managing behavior (redirecting, calming or removing a disruptive student from the classroom).
- Monitoring and recording student progress in instructional areas (academics, daily living skills, dressing, grooming, social skills, etc.).
- Managing physical needs (toileting, feeding, dressing, lifting, positioning, transporting students in wheelchairs, etc.).
Other responsibilities include supervising students, maintaining regular attendance, performing toileting, feeding and self‑care procedures, implementing behavioral management programs, and maintaining student data.
Minimum Qualifications- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Personal Care Assistant certification required within 30 days of start date.
- Completed 60 semester / 90 quarter credits, obtained an associate degree (or higher) from a regionally accredited institution, or passed the Para Educator exam or Para Pro exam (documentation required).
- Good communication, interpersonal, and record‑keeping skills.
- Ability to work with technology and computers, cooperate with students and staff, supervise students, take direction, maintain attendance.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
- Perform physical duties (toileting, feeding, self‑care, behavioral management, data functions, etc.) and be able to work physically in the building.
$20.85 to $25.50 per hour for DOQ with K‑12 experience.
$22.00 to $26.65 per hour with AA/AAS degree or 60 semester/90 quarter credits from a regionally accredited institution, DOQ with K‑12 experience.
$22.85 to $27.50 per hour with BA degree from a regionally accredited institution, DOQ with K‑12 experience.
Special Ed Paras serving center‑based students and classrooms 50% or more of their time receive an additional $0.50 per hour. Special Ed Paras at Two Rivers Transition Program receive an additional $1.00 per hour. Special Ed Paras at River Trail Learning Center receive an additional $1.50 per hour.
