Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Professional (MHP) or Mental Health Professional Clinical Trainee to provide diagnostic assessments and evidence-based treatment services to adults experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. This role involves delivering services in both individual and group settings while collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team to support client recovery, stability, and overall wellness.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive diagnostic and functional assessments.
- Provide clinical treatment services using Integrated Dual Disorders Treatment (IDDT) and other evidence-based practices.
- Deliver individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, family therapy, and psychoeducation services.
- Facilitate co-occurring disorder groups.
- Develop individualized treatment plans and level-of-care assessments.
- Identify mental health and substance use concerns, including barriers to recovery and stability.
- Collaborate as a valued member of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Provide expertise, training, and ongoing support to clinical staff regarding engagement and treatment of individuals with chronic mental illness and co-occurring MI/CD.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation.
- Adhere to all applicable Minnesota statutes and licensing requirements.
- Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a closely related field.
- Licensed or license-eligible in Minnesota as an independent behavioral health professional (LICSW, LPCC, LMFT, or Licensed Psychologist).
- Working knowledge of Minnesota Statutes Chapter 245G, Chapter 245A (Human Services Licensing Act), and Sections 626.556, 626.557, and 626.5572.
- Ability to pass a DHS Background Study.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with standard office equipment.
- Enrolled in an accredited graduate program preparing for independent licensure and participating in a practicum or internship through the graduate program; OR
- Completed an accredited graduate program and in compliance with applicable licensing board requirements, including supervised practice; OR
- Completed an accredited graduate program, completed a practicum or internship, and awaiting exam results or final licensure decision.
- Under supervision of a Mental Health Professional, may provide psychotherapy, diagnostic assessments, functional assessments, level-of-care assessments, treatment plans, client education, and rehabilitative mental health services.
- May not provide treatment supervision to other staff persons.
- May provide direction to mental health behavioral aides and mental health rehabilitation workers.
- Psychological clinical trainees under psychologist supervision may perform psychological testing.
- Must comply with all applicable health-related licensing board requirements.
- Experience working with adults with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
- Training in evidence-based practices for dual diagnosis treatment.
- Strong clinical documentation and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
- DBT Certified
