Mental Health Crisis Clinician

• Assist emergency room team in a consultant role to provide clinical care, evaluation and disposition recommendation to patients presenting to the emergency room in mental health or substance abuse crisis.
• Provides written recommendation for level of care and coordinates placement, plan and/or referral as needed.
• Conduct face-to-face or virtual (telehealth) consultations with patients in crisis.
• Recommend appropriate level of clinical care.
• Collaborates with community care team and caregivers to provide patient-centered recommendation.
• Provides ongoing reassessment and crisis intervention while patient remains in the emergency room.
• Coordinates with placement team and/or community partners to support disposition recommendation.
• Referrals of patients to outpatient services either within or outside the system.
• Remains up to date with current resources and patient access referrals.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or other mental health profession
• 2 to 5 years experience in a behavioral health setting
• Direct clinical experience in a hospital, mental health, or clinic setting (preferred)
• 1 year crisis management skills in hospital, clinic, or managed care setting (preferred)
• Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker - MN Board of Social Work required upon hire or
• Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist - MN Board of Marriage and Family Therapy required upon hire or
• Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor - MN Board of Behavioral Health & Therapy required upon hire or
• Licensed Psychologist-MN Board of Psychology required upon hire

Demonstrates expertise in crisis management and clinical evaluation within emergency settings, providing patient-centered recommendations and coordinating care with community partners. Holds relevant licensure and possesses direct clinical experience in behavioral health.
