Summary / Objective
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for directing work on the production floor during their shift and working collaboratively across departments. This role assigns tasks, clearly communicates expectations, and supports press operators to ensure work is done safely, correctly, and on schedule. They are the main point of contact on the floor and are expected to make day‑to‑day decisions, address issues as they arise, and keep production moving.

- Maintain strong floor presence by providing hands‑on support, leading by example, and addressing performance issues in real time.
- Train press operators on procedures, safety, quality standards, and productivity expectations.
- Assign and adjust operator staffing and press assignments based on skill level, performance, and production needs.
- Lead shift meetings to clearly communicate daily priorities, expectations, and escalation needs.
- Ensure safe, efficient injection molding operations by enforcing safety policies, PPE requirements, and housekeeping standards while promoting a strong culture of safety and accountability.
- Plan and prioritize work based on production schedules to meet output, quality, and delivery requirements.
- Monitor shift performance and respond quickly to production, quality, or efficiency issues to minimize downtime and disruption.
- Verify adherence to all production documentation and escalate safety or production concerns promptly through resolution.
- Collaborate closely with Maintenance, Quality, Tooling, and Materials teams to resolve issues and support production goals.
- Communicate production status, issues, staffing needs, and priorities clearly to management and across shifts.
- Ensure effective shift handoffs with accurate updates on production progress and ongoing concerns.
- Complete all required daily documentation, including shift reports and downtime tracking.
This position directly supervises and is responsible for the performance of approximately 10–20 press operators.
Work EnvironmentThe employee frequently works on the production floor and is exposed to moving mechanical parts, industrial machinery, elevated noise levels, and routine physical activity, including continuous standing. Occasional exposure to fumes from heated or processed plastic materials may occur, and hearing protection may be required. The work environment may involve temperature variations depending on the season. While most duties are performed in the manufacturing area, some work is completed in a temperature‑controlled office setting.
PhysicalDemands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the shift. The employee is also required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend as part of routine job duties. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. These physical requirements are consistent with manufacturing floor operations and production support activities.
PositionType / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full‑time, salaried position. 3rd shift hours are: 10:45 pm – 7:15 am. Due to production and supervisory responsibilities, shift supervisors are expected to arrive prior to the start of their shift for preparation and remain after shift completion as needed to ensure effective handoff. This position requires approximately 45 hours per week, with additional time as operational needs require.

RequiredEducation and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2–3+ years of experience in an injection molding or manufacturing environment.
- Prior supervisory or lead experience supporting hourly production employees.
