Perform both engine and chassis repairs on primarily Kenworth trucks, as well as Peterbilt, International, Freightliner, vocational vehicles and other makes. The scope of the job includes diagnosis, troubleshooting, and writing detailed stories for documentation, in addition to the physical work on the truck.
Essential Position Functions / Responsibilities- Provide technical services to vehicles and equipment.
- Read job orders and observe and listen to vehicles in operation to resolve malfunctions and plan work procedures.
- Follow checklists to ensure all critical parts are examined.
- Coordinate with warranty administrators to ensure maximum profit recapture, including answering questions after repair and tagging warranty parts for return.
- Adhere to manufacturer’s policies and procedures related to labor operations, time, and repair order documentation.
- Maintain a designated workspace in an organized and clean manner.
- Complete all work according to applicable safety requirements and published procedures.
- Properly complete all work assigned by the service manager/advisor and test drive vehicles to verify that issues are fixed.
- Participate in technical training assigned by management.
- Ensure customer vehicles are returned at the same level of cleanliness prior to being serviced.
- Make every effort to achieve production objectives set by management.
- Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and adjust as needed.
- Develop and maintain friendly and courteous relationships with customers, visitors, and coworkers.
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ years of fleet or dealership experience
- Own personal tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Customer service skills to ensure friendly and professional interactions with customers
- Honest, dependable, organized & resourceful
- Self‑motivated and professional
- Dedicated to teamwork and collaboration
- Desire to provide strong customer service
- Independent thinking
- ASE certification
- CDL certification
